Community Food Response North

A New Outreach Opportunity for Hosanna!

Community Food Response (CFR), which began in 1993 at Bethel Lutheran Church in southeast Rochester, opened a north location in August 2017, at The Exchange, located at 3945 Tenth Avenue Northwest. The new second location will serve residents of Gage East Apartments and others living in the north end of Rochester. Hosanna agreed to provide volunteers for the first Monday of each month (unless it falls on a major holiday when CFR is closed.) CFR is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led organization that rescues food from supermarkets, senior living facilities, restaurants, and cafeterias, and donates it to those in need.

Volunteers are needed as drivers, helpers, food sorters, and food distributors.  Drivers and helpers work from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.; sorters work from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.; and distributors work from 4:45 – 6:30 p.m.  Sorters sort incoming food into categories and place it in coolers and distributors fill bags of food for clients and clean up the site.

Adults, youth, and families are welcome to help out!  Please watch for sign-up sheets at the Welcome Center.
