For over six years Hosanna Lutheran Church has been searching for a used pipe organ to replace the 40 year old electronic organ that is presently used during our worship services. Different possibilities have arisen but nothing seemed to be quite the right fit or timing. This last fall Jeff Daehn of Rochester, our organ consultant, brought to our attention a eight rank 1958 Moller “Artiste” organ which had been purchased by and was in the possession of Steven Ball, the American division director of Het Molenpad Expertise of Michigan.

After presenting the information to Hosanna’s organ task force and the church council, and many generous donations from our members, at a special meeting our congregation voted to approve the purchase and installation of the organ.

On the weekend of November 11-12 three members of the congregation, Leon Plantz, Gary Scheuneman and Fred Lust, drove a 24 foot truck to Chelsea, Michigan to purchase and transport the organ back to Hosanna. On Monday, November 13, fifteen members of the congregation, under the supervision of Jeff Daehn, assisted in unloading the numerous organ components including 8 crates of pipes, air reservoirs, windchests, cabinet pieces and the parts for the console.

Because the organ was disassembled and only partially restored, there was a lot of preparation work that took place before it could be installed in the sanctuary. Jeff assigned different tasks that could be done by congregational members. It took the expertise of a variety of congregational members and many volunteer hours to complete these tasks. It was an exciting and educational adventure for the congregation to take part in the installation process.

The following people have spent over 1100 hours on this wonderful ministry for Hosanna and they deserve a big Thank You!
